Vivella's comprehensive diamond guide
Every diamond due to production has certain distinguishing characteristics. The 4Cs : colour, clarity, cut and carat weight, are the globally accepted standards for assessing the quality of a diamond.
The 4 C's
Colour
A diamond's colour refers to the presence or absence of any hue, with the most valuable diamonds being colourless. This is determined using a scale from D (colourless) to Z (Light yellow). At Vivella we only accept diamonds of the highest standard, graded D, E, or F meaning our diamonds are completely colourless.
Clarity
A diamond's clarity refers to the presence of internal or external imperfections, known as inclusions and blemishes. This is determined using a scale from very very slightly included (VVS) to Included (I). At Vivella, we only accept diamonds of the highest standard, graded VVS1 or VVS2, meaning our diamonds have no visible imperfections.
Cut
A diamond's cut refers to how well its facets interact with light, impacting its brilliance and sparkle. This is determined using a scale from Excellent to Poor. At Vivella, we only accept diamonds of the highest standard, graded Excellent, ensuring our diamonds reflect maximum light for exceptional brilliance.
Carat
A diamond's carat weight refers to its size, with one carat equaling 200 milligrams. This is a key factor in determining a diamond's overall value. At Vivella, we offer diamonds of various carat weights, ensuring that each stone, regardless of size, meets our exceptional quality standards for brilliance and beauty.

Lab Grown diamond
At Vivella, we use lab grown diamonds for their exceptional quality, ethical sourcing, and environmental sustainability.

#1 What Is a Lab Grown Diamond?
Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds, composed of crystallised carbon just like mined diamonds, the two have the same appearance with the same physical, chemical and optical characteristics.

#2 What makes lab grown diamonds ethical?
Lab grown diamonds are created using extreme pressure and heat inside a machine rather than the bowels of the Earth. Making them free from all forms of conflict caused by the mining processes, this makes them free from imposing any ecological harm and damage to our environment.

#3 Can You Tell The Difference?
The answer is no, it's impossible to distinguish the two with the naked eye. The only ways to differentiate between a lab grown diamond and a mined diamond is to examine the inscription on the girdle of the diamond under 30x magnification, a lab grown diamond will reveal a unique laser inscription.
